QUICK HITS – Goose Island to London, Camden Town Brewery to NYC And More!

We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. But clearly all that’s changed.

, QUICK HITS – Goose Island to London, Camden Town Brewery to NYC And More!AB InBev Making Transatlantic Moves (Belgium) – We’re beginning to see the next stage in AB InBev’s global plan to counter the growth of independent craft beer that we’ve chronicled previously in If you can’t beat them, buy them, and with its most recent moves it appears that the global giant is playing an international game positioning its craft beer properties.

Goose Island, the first American craft brewery to sell out to AB InBev back in 2011 will reportedly be bringing their “pub experience” to the United Kingdom. The Goose Island Vintage Ale House hopes to make its southwest London debut by December 25th. It will be the first of two planned at this time for London and according to The Telegraph. AB InBev also hopes to open a Goose Island branded pub in Belgium coming up.

Camden Town Brewery, an AB InBev property since December 2015, will reportedly be making its way across “the pond” when they begin bringing their flagship Hells Lager to NYC later this month. Anheuser-Busch InBev is also using their immense economic clout to fund Camden Town’s new brewery in north London, so don’t be surprised (assuming the test run in New York proves successful) when you start seeing Camden Town beer in other American cities.

“Not” a beer vibrator

Bad Ideas In Brewing, Pastrami Beer (New York, NY) – We like Shmaltz Brewing’s Jeremey Cowan, so we’re not blaming him for teaming up with NYC-based Barcade on a pastrami-flavored beer, but who really thought this was a good idea.?

Bad ideas In Brewing – Beer Vibrator (UK) – When you launch a product that’s basically a “beer vibrator” (a pocket sized head generator from That Thing that supposedly upgrades a beer’s head) – and you can’t call it a “beer vibrator” because of the unfortunate sexual association that comes with the word – we suggest that you don’t.
