To celebrate Independence Day Pabst Blue Ribbon, a favorite slacker beer, is going big. We’re not talking 12-pack big, or even 30 pack big. What we’re dealing with here is an historic first, a beer package containing 1,776 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

“We figured the best way to honor the year America claimed its independence was to make a box that held that many beers – 1,776, said Nick Reely, VP Marketing at Pabst Blue Ribbon. “It’s the least we could do. I mean beyond making our beer can red, and white, and blue. Actually 1,776 is the most we could do because 1,777 seemed excessive.”
But before you rent that tractor trailer and camp out at your neighborhood beer store know that the Pabst Blue Ribbon Company will only be shipping four of these monsters to “key partners and influencers,” meaning you’re not their partner and have no influence.
The brewery is sharing the mega packs with Igloo Coolers, whose products are much cooler than you, as well as skateboarding podcast crew The Nine Club, comedian Ali Macofsky, and pop punk darlings, Hot Mulligan.
Each influencer will provide content and updates on their drinking progress throughout the summer.
The rest of us proles will have to settle for less.
But the good news is that Pabst Blue Ribbon, which was founded was founded in 1844 and remains the nation’s largest privately held brewing company, is returning its famous 99-Pack to retail accounts across America.
There’s also talk of a package that’s even bigger than the #1776Pack in the near future, so pace yourselves, people.
