This Saturday marks the start of North Texas Beer Week (Nov. 9-16), an 8-day showcase of the talented men and women whose dedication has helped to create one of the fastest growing markets for craft beer in the US. Formerly Dallas Beer Week, this grassroots movement has exponentially grown under the tutelage of the newly formed board of directors, whose mission is to promote the whole region’s booming craft beer market. The board of directors is made up of local organizers who have garnered respect for their continuous work to support the craft beer movement by hosting beer festivals, education seminars, and brewery tours for the Dallas/Fort Worth community. The relationships they have built with the community will ensure that this week will be a huge success.
The week kicks off with the Texas Brewvolution festival organized by Chad and Nellie Montgomery of Big Texas Beer Festival, Corey Pond of Untapped, and Spune Productions. This festival is the first of its kind in North Texas focused primarily on showcasing Texas craft beer. Breweries from all over the state are traveling to North Texas to join beer enthusiasts in a celebration of hand-crafted Texas beer. With 40+ breweries and more than 125 beer tastings, beer enthusiasts can expect “a fun, boisterous crowd that appreciates craft beer that’s made with care and attention.” Texas Brewvolution not only supports drinking local but buying local as well. While at the festival, patrons can take a break from the suds (and it’s an impressive beer list) and visit the artisan food trucks and local vendors set up throughout the festival grounds while enjoying the tunes of local bands.
And that’s just the beginning. The rest of the week is just as promising, with dozens of beer-centric events held around the metroplex. Local pubs, breweries, and restaurants have collaborated with the North Texas Beer week organizers to host special events during the week. Notable events to attend include beer dinners, brewery tap-takeovers, rare and seasonal tappings, anniversary celebrations, brewer meet and greets, and beer education seminars. With more than 100 events, there is sure to be something for everyone (pro tip: start your planning now via the North Texas Beer Week Guide). The week’s events not only support local breweries but also the local businesses that will help make beer week a success.
North Texas Beer Week is bigger and better this year not only because of the robust craft scene that has emerged but also because of the people in the community who unite together to educate, endorse, and encourage better beer offerings. Everything truly is bigger and better in Texas, and this year’s North Texas Beer Week shows that Texans have the heart to support the craft beer community.
