Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 8, 2013

So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets. So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 8, 2013The Kaiser Returns (Boulder, CO) – The Avery Brewing Company has announced the return of one of their most historical and popular beers. The Kaiser is Avery’s Imperial take on a traditional Märzen. It’s a deep copper beer with a massive malty backbone that’s amped up to create a 10.2% ABV truly Imperial Oktoberfest. The Kaiser was the third in the brewery’s “Dictator Series,” which also includes The Czar Imperial Stout and The Maharaja Imperial IPA and should be hitting stores the second week in August.

Boulevard Samples Twelve (Kansas City, MO) – Beginning this month, Boulevard Brewing Company’s newest beers won’t be found on tap, in a six-pack, or even inside one of their popular Smokestack Series bombers. Alongside two current year-round beers, the brewery’s new Sample Twelve package will feature three bottles each of two exclusive Tasting Room beers. The first two new beers included in the pack are Westside Rye Ale, a sessionable beer with a slightly spicy character, and Mid-Coast I.P.A., the hoppiest member of Boulevard’s current family. Unfiltered Wheat Beer and 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer will round out the initial Sample Twelve lineup.

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 8, 2013Good and Bad News from Sierra Nevada (Chico, CA) – First, the bad news. Brutal spring weather wreaked havoc on the barley crop intended for Sierra Nevada’s all locally grown Estate Ale. Now the good news: instead of crying in their beer, Sierra Nevada decided to do one better and DevESTATEtion Black IPA was born. Featuring organic malts and estate-grown wet hops, this 6.7% ABV black IPA is the evil twin of their legendary Estate IPA and it is coming your way soon.

A Twisted Revival (Boulder, CO) – Back by popular demand, the third installment in Twisted Pine Brewing Company’s lauded Farm to Foam series is the same as the first. Roots Revival, an American IPA that was first released last summer, has been reprised once again. This 7% ABV limited edition IPA is brewed using only Colorado-grown ingredients and organic carrots harvested only twelve miles from the brewery. Look for it in stores now.

, Newbies – New Releases to Look Out For – August 8, 2013New Belgium Kicks Up Their Pumpkins (Fort Collins, CO) – The folks at New Belgium are adding the unexpected kick of cranberries to their new 6% ABV pumpkin seasonal. Pumpkick Ale is brewed with plenty of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but it is the healthy dose of cranberries that kicks this beer into gear. “Tis the season for baked goods, so why fight it, just pair it,” said New Belgium’s Master Blender and Sensory Specialist Lauren Salazar. “The cranberries absolutely make a difference in this beer and are another great example of how we’ve used our Belgian roots to give a traditional style a different dimension.”

Things Getting Sweet Indeed! (Minneapolis, MN) – A bustling production facility, a growing distribution base, an award-winning taproom – Indeed Brewing Company approaches their one-year anniversary with a lot to celebrate, including the fact that they’ll soon be canning one of their most popular brews! Sweet Yamma Jamma is their answer to the parade of pumpkin beers coming out of late – but theirs is actually a sweet potato ale. Look for Sweet Yamma to hit shelves in September.
