So many beers, So little time…You’d expect all the new releases to be slowing down a little at this time of year – but clearly they’re not – and we’ve a number of “newbies” for you to peruse. We’ve also some exciting new beers from Widmer Brothers and Alaskan Brewing that you’ll need to chase down.
Dusted (Seattle, WA) – Elysian has graduated a popular release from their Manic IPA Series and they’re making it available all year round. Elysian Space Dust IPA is a 7.2% ABV blast of Chinook, Citra, and Amarillo hops that you’ll be able to enjoy whenever you want to (on draft as well as in 22 oz. bottles and six-packs) from now on.

SweetWater’s Spinnerbait is a 6% ABV Belgian Red that’s brewed with Pilsner, wheat, and black wheat malts; Columbus, Willamette, and US Golding hops; and topped off using Belgian rock candy in the whirlpool.
The Next 6 From The Next 30 (Portland, OR) – Widmer Brothers Brewing has announced the next six beers in their “very cool” 30 Beers for 30 Years Series, and each of these beers were chosen to commemorate a certain year and a special beer from the brewery’s 30-year history.
Hop Jack (2001) is a classic Northwest Pale Ale that was named after a piece of brewery equipment used to amp-up a beer’s hop profile.
Cherry Bomb is a fruit-infused Doppelbock that was first brewed for the Oregon Brewers Festival in 2002.
Dër Ubër Tübër (2003) is a 7% ABV one-of-a-kind creation that’s brewed using Russet potatoes in the mash.
Sommerbräu is the brewery’s take on the traditional Kölsch that was first brewed back in 2004.
Broken Halo is a more sessionable spin-off of Halo, an Imperial IPA, that Widmer Brothers brewed for the Portland Beer Festival in 2004.
And Re-Gifted Red (2006)is an imperial version of Northwest Red, which is also known as Brrr Seasonal Ale.
All six beers are available now in the Portland area for a very limited time, but with only 30 cases out there – they won’t be for long – so you know what to do.
Alaskan Doubles Down (Juneau, AK) – The Alaskan Brewing Company has just announced the latest release from their innovative Pilot Series. Alaskan Double Black IPA is a massive 8.5% ABV Pale Ale with a fresh citrus nose and a dry bouquet of roasted grains that will help you weather the long winter nights to come.
