Allagash Releases Victor and Victoria (Portland, ME) – The Allagash Brewing Co. is pushing the envelope again with two fusion Tribute series brews: Victor and Victoria Ales. The 2013 Victoria Ale is a wine/beer hybrid that was inspired by a visit to Portland, Maine’s Victoria Mansion brewed with more than 200 pounds of Chardonnay grapes. With a focus on the wine-like character of the grapes, the 9.0% ABV brew pours copper and sounds awesome. The Victor Ale was inspired by its feminine-named predecessor and, like Victoria, it’s a wine/beer hybrid that instead features red Cabernet Franc grapes and has a slightly different malt bill. This one’s tart and spicy.Allagash donates $1.00 from every bottle sold in their Tribute Series.
A Different Yeti Sighted (Denver, CO) – The Great Divide Brewing Company has been hinting for a while that they’d be releasing a new variation in their popular Yeti Imperial Stout series – and now word is leaking out that they have. Café Society reports that “Oatmeal Yeti will be a seasonal beer sold in 22 oz. bomber bottles like most of its cousins – including Oak Aged Yeti, Espresso Yeti, and Chocolate Yeti.” It replaces last year’s Belgian Style Yeti and should hit store shelves sometime in early July.
Two Beers Acting All Presidential (Seattle, WA) – Two Beers Brewing has just made a Presidential announcement and it’s good news for Pilsner lovers. Presidential Pils is their 4.8% ABV Czech-style Pilsner.
