So many beers- So little time… Winter is undeniably on its way and with it comes the beers of the season. And, yes, we’ve a number of interesting new releases that you’ll want to chase down…We also have some interesting new offerings from SweetWater and Oskar Blues that sound serious as well.
Dark Is As Dark Does (Edinburgh, Scotland) – Oak-aged beer champions, Innis & Gunn has released a new winter seasonal in the states. Aged in Innis & Gunn’s unique Oakerator, over a blend of bourbon-infused American oak, Bourbon Aged Dark Ale is a 7.4% cola-colored ale brewed with crystal and toasted malts, roasted barley and Super Styrian Goldings hops.
Whiplashed (Atlanta, GA) – SweetWater Brewing is rolling out a Catch & Release winter seasonal that took a bronze the 2014 World Beer Cup. Complemented by citrusy/piney menu of hops, SweetWater Whiplash White IPA is a 6.3% American-style Belgian Pale Ale with a nuanced aroma and subtle flavor.
Have A Wild Christmas (Boulder, CO) – Upslope Brewing has just released the latest from their popular Lee Hill Series – and it’s just in time for the holidays. Aged for 10 months in Leopold Bros. Maryland-Style Rye Whiskey barrels and their house sour culture, Upslope Wild Christmas Ale is a Belgian-style Dubbel that’s a complex yet balanced blend of holiday spices, dark cherry caramel and whiskey-spiced oak.
Getting Warmer (San Francisco, CA) – The Anchor Brewing Company is returning a classic winter warmer brewed with malted barley and five varieties of wheat. Introduced in 2014, Anchor Winter Wheat is a 7% ABV cold weather seasonal that’s brewed with soft red winter wheat from a local family farm.
Hot / Hot / Hot (Longmont, CO / Brevard, NC) – Oskar Blues and Hotbox Roasters have collaborated on a special brew that packs a roasted coffee punch. Hotbox Coffee Porter is a 6.4% limited release infused with potent, cold-extracted coffee from Burundian and Ethiopian beans. Sounds eye-opening!
