, Newbies – 5 Special Craft Beers You Need To Check OutA Gateway Gose (Lexington, VA) – Devils Backbone’s Brewmaster, Jason Oliver recently came through town. We did a little drinking together – and this is what we were drinking. The newest can in the brewery’s lineup…Devils Backbone Cran-Gose is a 4% tart Cranberry Ale with pleasant citrus notes and a slightly salty mouthfeel.

Folly Wood (Fort Collins, CO) – New Belgium Brewing is returning a Lips of Faith Series favorite and we can’t wait to get our hands on this year’s release. La Folie, French for “the folly” is the brewery’s earliest sour beer release dating back to 1997. A wood-conditioned Brown Ale, La Folie ages one to three years in French oak foeders – enormous wood barrels formerly used in wine production. This one-of-a-kind blend is sharp like a Lambic and sour in the finish, and it’s available now in 22-oz. bombers and on draft.

 

, Newbies – 5 Special Craft Beers You Need To Check OutA Brewhouse Rarity (Frederick, MD) – Flying Dog has a new Brewhouse Rarities Series release that speaks to two different types of seasonality. Brewed with a rich blend of roasted malts juicy fruit hops, fresh coconut and pineapple, Flying Dog’s Brewhouse Rarities Tropical Stout is a 6% ABV exercise in seasonal polarities – it’s also available now.

Double Barreled (Boulder, CO) – Avery Brewing has just released the 33rd offering from their vaunted Barrel-Aged Series that audaciously melds tequila notes with those of wine. Avery Lunctus Viribus is a complex 5.4% ABV, 50/50 blend of American sour ale, aged in both tequila and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels.

 

, Newbies – 5 Special Craft Beers You Need To Check OutNorth Meets South (Healdsburg / Coronado, CA) – Bear Republic and Coronado Brewing recently came together and brewed two different versions of their Rye IPA collaboration together – and two different experiences for the beer drinker. . Bear Republic’s MerBear Rye IPA is a 7.5% India Pale Ale that was brewed with Super Galena, Ella, El Dorado, Equinox, Azacca, Buddha’s hops.

Coronado’s MerBear Rye IPA shares the same ABV, but is brewed with a pungent menu of Amarillo, Hallertau Blanc, Centennial, and Equinox hops.
