So many beers- So little time… Barrel-aged “variations” dominate today’s newbies and we’ve a number of interesting offerings you’ll want to chase down…Plus we’ve some new releases from Ninkasi and Lakewood that sound pretty serious as well.
American Wild (Austin, TX) – Jester King released something special last weekend that has been years in the making. Sherry Barrel Rubicite is the raspberry laden American Wild Ale, in Spanish sherry barrels. Its base, Rubicite, was brewed back in 2013, blended in 2014 and then re-fermented with raspberries. It was then aged an additional 15 months in sherry barrels – and since they released it last weekend, we have to assume that they’re done for now.
French Quartered (Dallas, TX) – Lakewood has a new Seduction Series Release that’s going to be bottled for the first time. Lakewood French Quarter Temptress is a 9.1% ABV Imperial Milk Stout that’s been barrel-aged with chicory and coffee from Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters.Available on draft and in 22oz bottles, look for this Temptress to start rolling out in the Dallas-Fort Worth area the week of September 14th.
Best Beer Name Ever! (Coronado, CA) – Coronado Brewing has a hilariously named new seasonal that they’ll be releasing on October 14th. Coronado Punk’In Drublic is an 8% ABV Imperial Pumpkin Ale that’s brewed with spices and (drum roll please)…actual pumpkin puree!
The Pumpkin Parade Continues (Baltimore, MD) – This week’s addition to the ongoing pumpkin parade is a new seasonal from our friends at Starr Hill. BOXCARR Pumpkin Porter is a lightly spiced 4.7% ABV English-style Brown Porter that lets the pumpkin breathe for a change, rather than dominate the brew entirely.
Dead Right (Athens, GA) – Terrapin Beer Company and The Walking Dead have teamed up to brew the “official beer” of the epic apocalyptic zombie series. Terrapin The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA is a 6.7% Red India Pale Ale that’s been appropriately brewed with blood orange peel. Look for this “dead on arrival” IPA to hit the streets on October 5th.
