So many beers- So little time… Fall has arrived and with it the beers of the season – and we’ve a number of interesting new releases that you’ll want to chase down….Plus we’ve some new offerings from Stone and Heavy Seas that sound serious.
Buffalo Sweat (Manhattan, KS) – With the recent completion of their brand new $7 million, 60,000-square-foot brewery, Tallgrass Brewing’s (the largest brewery in Kansas) is now able to expand its existing portfolio – and they’re introducing their new Explorer Series. The first release in this seasonal series is the distinctively named Bourbon Barrel Buffalo Sweat – their award-winning oatmeal cream stout, aged in bourbon barrels, with chocolate-espresso tones and an oak barrel backbone. Available September to December.
Another Peak Experience (Portland, ME) – Our friend, Brendan Gangl (he’s the Director of Communications for Peak Organic) recently stopped by the ACB compound with something special. Billed as “a wicked dry-hopped Pilsner,” Peak Organic Super Fresh is a 7.6% Imperial take on their popular Fresh Cut year-round, which uses a stunning amount of hops and amps everything up to eleven. This is an extremely limited release – so you know what to do.
A Category 5 Ale (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas just rolled out their fall/winter seasonal and it’s a monster. Brewed to an elegant bitterness using hops from both the West Coast and the UK, Heavy Seas Winter Storm is a 7.5% malt-forward Imperial ESB with an earthy hop nose.
A Wake-Up Call (Escondido, CA) – Stone is returning a favorite that was originally brewed on the 10-barrel pilot system at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station as an experimental, one-time offering. Stone Coffee Milk Stout is a 5% ABV smooth combination of sweet and bitter coffee flavors that’s ideal for fall and the winter that’s coming.
Born Yesterday Any Day Now (Petaluma, CA / Chicago IL) – Lagunitas will soon be releasing a special Fresh Hop ale, so be ready. Lagunitas Born Yesterday is a Fresh Hop Pale Ale is made from whole-cone, un-kilned Mosaic, Equinox, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo hops and it will be ready to roll any day now.
The Fall Pumpkin Parade Continues (Tampa, FL) – This week’s addition to the ongoing pumpkin parade and one of the most widely-known comes from Southern Tier . Described as an ode to Púca, a creature of Celtic folklore, Southern Tier Pumking is an 8.6% ABV Imperial Pumpkin Ale that’s like drinking a massive slice of pumpkin pie.
