The winter holiday season is ON. And American craft brewers are addressing the season with a variety of new offerings that promise to pair smartly with just about every festivity.
See You In December (Athens, GA) – Creature Comforts Beer has announced the December return of a popular winter release that was brewed with Ethiopian coffee and Ecuadorian cocoa nibs. Creature Comforts Koko Buni is a 6.5% ABV rich and velvety Milk Porter with robust toasted coconut, cocoa, and coffee tones that inform but never overpower.
Best Bavarian Brewing (Munich, Germany) – Just because a beer is strictly brewed according to the Bavarian Beer Purity Law, doesn’t mean it can’t be interesting and the Paulaner Brewery’s flagship is as good as it ever was. One of Germany’s most acclaimed offering’s that was first brewed in 1634, Paulaner Original Lager is an almost perfect 4.9% ABV melding of malty character with the light bitterness of hops.
Bay Brewed (San Francisco, CA) – In 2019 Anchor Brewing introduced a special beer that they crafted in collaboration with Baykeeper, a non-profit that has defended the San Francisco Bay from pollution for over 30 years. Ultra-crisp and uber-refreshing, Anchor Baykeeper IPA is a bright 7% ABV India Pale Ale with a hoppy, fruit-forward character and huge lime, orange zest and papaya aromatics.
Brown Nosed (Grand Rapids, MI) – Founders Brewing is returning a popular coffee beer that hasn’t been bottled since 2012. Unapologetically sweet and nutty, Founders Frangelic Mountain Brown is a 9% ABV Coffee Brown Ale that’s a semi-legend at the Michigan brewery, as well as at the ACB compound.
‘Tis The Saison (Hood River, OR) – Saison means season in French and pFriem Family Brewers have released a special barrel-aged version. Pumped with big geranium and grape aromatics that melt into notes of pineapple and minerality, pFriem Barrel Aged Saison III is a 6.5% ABV winter seasonal with a clean yet complex finish.
