, New Firestone Walker Film Promotes Mountain Adventure And Beer

Firestone Walker just released a new short film that features a very interesting photographer/adventurer and it’s a breathtaking ride.

The new film—A Young Man’s Road—tells the story of Drew Smith, a world-class mountain climber and one of climbing photography’s most notable talents.

The latest release from the Paso Robles, Ca-based brewery’s savvy  Crafted for Adventure series, follows Smith as he scales some of the most imposing rock walls in his home state of Montana, heeding a mantra he learned from his father: “Make the goosebumps last as long as you can, and take advantage of cheap thrills.”

Drew Smith: A Young Man’s Road was crafted by Dylan Gordon a Ventura, California photographer and director who travels the globe chronicling the great outdoors with top athletes and adventurers for brands like Firestone Walker.

And maybe one of the reasons that Firestone Walker’s latest film short works so well is that in addition to being a talented filmmaker, its director is an adventurer himself.

Gordon grew up raising horses and surfing along California’s Central Coast. And when he’s not making films around the world, he’s in the mountains or on the ocean.

So maybe the “it takes one to know one” concept is at play here. Maybe adventurers get one another better than most, and Gordon’s work for Firestone Walker captures Drew Smith’s world brilliantly.

And yes the film shows Drew Smith with a Flyjack IPA in hand, but it’s appearance is almost incidental. The story’s more about living an adventurous life, and the brewery’s low cal hazy IPA  but a natural compliment to that experience.

 

Drew Smith: A Young Man’s Road is beautiful viewing and it speaks to Firestone Waller’s lifestyle sensibility that these talents came together.

It also speaks volumes as to how Firestone Walker choses to image itself and market its beer.

“This campaign is about strengthening the connection between Firestone Walker and beer drinkers who are passionate about adventure,” said Dustin Hinz, Firestone Walker’s chief marketing officer. “It also goes to the heart of who we are as a California beer company.”
