October’s arrived…And brewers are addressing the season with a variety of intoxicating new beer offerings that should pair smartly with cooling temperatures.
Oktoberfist Does Oktoberfest (Vista, CA) – Iron Fist Brewing recently released its second ‘draft-only’ seasonal for 2019. Brewed to celebrate autumn using both traditional and less traditional malts, Iron Fist Oktoberfist is a 6% ABV medium-bodied Märzen Lager with caramel and nutty undertones and a glowing reddish hue.
Lake Shifter (Milwaukee, WI) – Lakefront Brewing has added a bracing new offering to its year-round lineup. Brewed with Cascade, Centennial, Cashmere, El Dorado and Amarillo hops, Lakefront Shifter Pale Ale is a 5.2% ABV refresher with bright notes of strawberry, peach and apricot.
DC Brau Votes (Washington, DC) – DC Brau has long been known for its big, hoppy beers, and its newest release is no exception. Triple dry-hopped with Comet and Hallertau Blanc hops, DC Brau Stacked Vote IPL is a crushable 4.5% ABV India Pale Lager with BIG fruity and herbal notes of lemongrass, citrus and berry. DC Brau ‘voters’ will find this fun new IPL in cans and on draft at independent craft retailers and bars and at the DC Brau tasting room.
An Old Fashioned Beer (St Louis, MO) – The original, independent craft brewery in St. Louis, Schlafly Beer has an interesting new addition to its St. Louis Crafted Cocktail Series …a line of special edition beers that pay homage to classic cocktails… Brewed with blood orange juice and then aged on bourbon barrel chips, Schlafly Old Fashioned Ale is an 8% ABV limited release with nuanced effervescent notes of citrus, bitters, and smoke. Its unique apothecary-style bottle is perfectly representative of this envelope pushing brew: a cocktail that’s not a beer, and a beer that’s not a cocktail.
