Winter’s coming and American craft brewers are addressing the changing season with a variety of BIG beers that should pair smartly with arctic temperatures.

A Heavy Anniversary (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer will be celebrating its 24 years of brewing this December with something enormous. Brewed with reckless amounts of Citra, Galaxy, Enigma, and Simcoe hops and tons of Baltimore swagger, Heavy Seas 24th Anniversary Ale is a 14% ABV Hazy “Quadrupel” IPA that promises to take no prisoners. And Heavy Seas’ forthcoming anniversary ale will feature label artwork by Chris Gipple, co-founder of Nightshift Creative who takes over art duties for the brewery in 2020.

Time Piece (Denver, CO) – River North Brewing is releasing something special on November 16 that’s perfectly timed. Big and aggressively malt-forward, River North Father Time is a 16.9% ABV Old Ale, a beer style that is more commonly called Winter Warmers in the US.

Molly’s Spirits Collaborates With Finkel & Garf (Denver, CO) – Molly’s Spirits is a hip Denver beer, wine and spirits retailer that loves to collaborate with local brewers for its special Private Label Beer Series. And they recently released something hazy that they did with Boulder, Colorado’s Finkel & Garf. pFriem Falls For Lambics (Hood River, OR) – Fall is our favorite season and pFriem has released a fruit forward Wild Ale blend that pairs perfectly with longer nights and cooling weather. pFriem Frambozen is a 5.7% ABV blend of one, two and three-year old Lambic Style Ales that was aged for nine months with fresh raspberries grown in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Getting Moody (Chicago, IL) – Moody Tongue Brewing has a new November release that coincides with the fall opening of their new brewery location and their two restaurants concepts within—The Dining Room and The Bar at Moody Tongue. Brimming with rich whiskey and caramel notes, Moody Tongue Scotch Barrel Aged Peated Scotch Ale is 11.8% ABV Wee Heavy that was aged to peaty perfection in Laphroaig Scotch whisky barrels.
