New Beer Alert: The Serious IPA Edition

October is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with exciting new beers you’re gonna want have around.

Surf’s Up (Venice, CA) – The Propagator, Firestone’s Walker’s hot-rod brewhouse in Venice, California, has a new collaboration beer they did with their friends at Humble Sea, a Santa Cruz brewery that’s been cranking out fantastic beers in that coastal surf town for more than five years.

Though he’s been a resident of the Central Coast and LA for over a decade, Propagator Brewery Manager Sam Tierney grew up in Santa Cruz, and he jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Humble Sea after meeting co-founder Frank Krueger a couple of years back.

Extra dense and double dry-hopped, Firestone Sea Haze is a 6.8% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale with fresh notes of peaches, mango, pineapple, passionfruit syrup, and orange pulp. Sea Haze is available for a limited time online and at Firestone Walker’s three locations in Venice, Paso Robles, and Buellton.

Made Of Strong Stuff (Denver, CO) – Great Divide Brewing is returning a fan-favorite with an updated recipe, refreshed art and brand-new package. Now exclusively available as a massive 19.2oz can, Great Divide Hercules Imperial IPA is a 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale that tones down the bitterness and maltiness of the original version in favor of a lighter mouthfeel and more approachable drinking experience.

“The name and icon were extremely ‘strong (pun intended) and we didn’t want to simply abandon the brand,” says Marketing Manager, Matt Sandy. “So, we modernized the old-timey strongman slightly along with the beer itself and, voila!, we had a product primed for the burgeoning single-serve craft market.”

Haze For Daze (Indianapolis, IN) – Sun King Brewing crafts so many fun special releases that we sometimes forget to cover their deserving year-round offerings and we’re making up for that now. Subtly sweet and slightly bitter, Sun King Keller Haze is a 6.3% ABV India Pale Ale with pronounced pineapple, citrus, tropical fruit, and orange peel notes crafted finished in a Kellerbier style.
