Love them or hate them, Pumpkin Beers define the fall season. And few breweries in America have committed to them like Seattle’s Elysian Brewing.
Not only do they sponsor the nation’s largest and longest running all-pumpkin beer celebration, the Great Pumpkin Beer Festival, they also release four different takes on the pumpkin beer every autumn and this year they’re all part of the Elysian Pumpkin Pack.
And given how different they are from one another, chances are even the most adamant pumpkin beer haters might find something they can enjoy.
Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale
This was Elysian’s first foray into pumpkin-fueled ales and it remains one of the brewery’s best-selling seasonal releases today.
Brewed with almost 7 lbs. of pumpkin per barrel, and a menu of roasted and raw pumpkin seeds, that are spiced during the conditioning process with nutmeg, clove, cinnamon ginger and allspice, Elysian Night Owl is a 6.7% ABV ale that’s immensely flavorful but never too sweet.
Elysian Punkuccino Coffee Pumpkin Ale
Elysian’s Punkuccino melds two of Seattle’s most beloved brews, (serious coffee and ale), with the season’s best locally sourced pumpkins, to craft something that’s wildly ambitious.
A beer that’s both eye-opening and good for shutting things down, Punkuccino is a 6% ABV Coffee Pumpkin Ale that serves as interesting alternative for those not so fond of traditional pumpkin ales.
Elysian Dark O’ The Moon Pumpkin Stout
One of the brewery’s most popular pumpkin ales, as well as a GABF award winner, Elysian’s Dark O’ The Moon is a rich and chocolatey pitch-black Pumpkin Stout with a surprisingly dry finish.
And at 7.5% ABV, this unapologetic cinnamon-laced cold-weather offering (which straddles that porter/stout line) is a perfect match for the season.
Elysian Great Pumpkin Imperial Pumpkin Ale
According to the brewery, Elysian Great Pumpkin was the world’s first Imperial Pumpkin Ale, and we expect that they’re probably right on that call.
Aggressively unfiltered and stoked to the max on pumpkin and roasted pumpkin seeds, Elysian’s Great Pumpkin is a massive 8.4% exercise in “doubling down” that created an original style that’s now widely duplicated
