Now in its fifth season, Netflix’s Money Heist has become one of the streamer’s biggest worldwide hits. And like Game of Thrones it’s now getting its own beer.
Here’s the deal…
Money Heist is a Spanish heist crime drama television series created by Álex Pina that has a huge international following.
The series traces two bold heists, one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain, told from the perspective of the robbers. The narrative enfolds in a real-time fashion and relies on flashbacks, time-jumps, hidden character motivations, and an unreliable narrator for complexity.
Netflix acquired the series since 2017 ,and by 2018 it had become the most-watched non-English-language series and one of the most-watched series overall on the network. Touted for its sophisticated plot, interpersonal dramas and direction, Money Heist has been an awards magnet, receiving several top honors including “Best Drama” at the 46th International Emmy Awards.
And in addition to an exciting plot and sexy cast, it’s got a great look with significant portions filmed in Panama, Thailand, Italy, Denmark and Portugal.
Netflix is currently steaming the first part of the final and fifth season with its conclusion scheduled to drop in December. And to celebrate its return Spain’s 4th largest brewer is releasing a special Money Heist beer.
Hijos de Rivera is an independent family owned Galician company, which was founded in 1906. Its flagship Estrella Galicia is the brewery’s best-selling Pale Lager and widely available around the world.
And the brewery is tying into the Money Heist phenomenon with a Estrella Galicia beer sporting a label that pays homage to the series. 85 million bottles of Estrella Galicia with this special image will get an international release and consumers in a total of 60 countries around the world will be able to get hold of the special La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) edition.
