Michigan Brewery No Longer For Sale On Craigslist

Hideout, Michigan Brewery No Longer For Sale On CraigslistThe Hideout, a Grand Rapid’s based brewery took to Facebook this week to announce that they were up for sale on Craigslist…And thing’s just got weirder from there.

Here’s the deal…

The Hideout Brewing Company’s story has always been kind of strange.

And the fact that their original Craigslist post, that was asking $725,000 for the business, a deal which included, the brewery and all its equipment, the building itself, and adjoining beer garden, has now been flagged and removed…only adds to the brewery’s strange legacy.

The small Grand Rapids brewery evidently had the right name. In spite of being located just north of I-96 (a major Grand Rapids throughway) it was a brewery, in a city renowned by beer lovers that needed to be found.

The property which originally was home to “The Hair of the Frog” brewery as well as the Hubba Tubba (a hot tub lounge complete with scented changing rooms) has existed at the site for several years and operated under The Hideout name since 2005.

Hideout, Michigan Brewery No Longer For Sale On CraigslistWhen its most recent owners, Nick Humphrey and Scott Colson, took over the location they expanded into the former hot tub hangout with “aspirations to produce as many as 6,000 barrels – upwards of 180,000 gallons – annually, and increase tap room seating by about 50 percent,” according to mlive.

But those dreams clearly didn’t pan out leading to their recent Facebook announcement and the decision to put the Hideout up for sale in order to “wipe clean all debts the company has,” according to WoodTV.

“The current owners are hoping to pass the torch to an energetic new person(s) who want to bring The Hideout into (sic) new heights,” adding that they’ve lost the passion to expand the business and have “not given The Hideout the time, energy or drive that it deserves.”

But for reasons we were unable to ascertain The Hideout’s Craigslist post has been taken down…leaving the company’s future direction in question.
