Karbach Brewing Sells Out To Big Beer

, Karbach Brewing Sells Out To Big Beer

In yet another sign that Big Beer’s craft beer buying spree was far from over, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced today that they were purchasing Houston-based Karbach Brewing.

Clearly the world’s biggest brewing entity sees their ongoing strategy of buying up craft beer properties as an effective way of diffusing the threat posed by craft beer independents…And we can’t help but agree with them.

Pending approval, Karbach will become the ninth craft beer property to join The High End, AB InBev’s, craft and import arm, and home to a growing family of once independent craft breweries, all flush with newfound cash.

ACB’s position, which we’ve articulated to death in past articles such as BIG BEER’S STRATEGY TO UPEND CRAFT BEER, remains the same.

This is business, and we all want to be successful and prosper….And everyone works to be paid.

We still have friends at many of these organizations and if these breweries continue to brew beer that matters, we’ll continue to write about them as honestly as we can.

But we’d be lying if we didn’t tell you, that we wished they hadn’t made the choices they’ve made…or that we hold them the same way that we once did.
