From the mountains of Asheville to the sunny shores of Wilmington, Hi-Wire Brewing continues to make bold expansion moves. Founded in Asheville, N.C. in 2013, Hi-Wire already has three locations in Asheville. They also have taprooms in Charlotte, Durham and Wilmington, NC as well as Knoxville, TN, Louisville, KY,  and but they’re far from done.

In December Hi-Wire announced plans for a new brewery and taproom in Cincinnati this fall, its ninth location and the first in Ohio. And on February 10 Hi-Wire Brewing announced that it would be opening a new brewery and taproom, this time in Birmingham, Alabama a city renowned for its food and beverage scene.

Scheduled to open this summer, Hi-Wire Brewing Birmingham will be the anchor tenant of the brand new mixed-use development Lakeview Green in the city’s Lakeview District – a vibrant, historic neighborhood full of dining and nightlife.

, Hi-Wire To Open New Brewery And Taproom In AlabamaThe Lakeview Green campus was engineered for sustainability and community access by LEED-accredited architect Tammy Cohen, president of CCR Architecture & Interiors, who will also be the architect for Hi-Wire’s newest taproom.

The 8887-square-foot taproom will occupy a bight corner location looking on to residential oasis featuring a lazy river, koi pond, and green space with fire pits and an herb garden.

In addition to a dramatic twenty-four tap bar featuring a fresh mix of Hi-Wire’s own year-rounds, seasonals, specialties, sour and wild ales and one-offs, Hi-Wire Birmingham’s outdoor seating will open up onto a scenic vista within walking distance from the city’s ’s revered Automatic Seafood and Oysters.

We’ve opened three taprooms since the start of the pandemic, and even despite those challenges, they’ve been really great for the brand,” said Hi-Wire Brewing co-owner, Chris Frosaker. “Alabama is already a high-growth market for us, so we see a lot of potential to really keep it going. The city really is just blossoming, and we want to be part of it.”

“Hi-Wire’s Alabama taproom will continue the brewery’s mission to cultivate community and inspire fun.”  Frosaker added, “Our Louisville taproom was our first brand new mixed-use development building, and we learned that we can make a new building feel warm and cozy.”
