The Great Canadian Grolsch Beer Rip-off

Gone Baby, Gone

Quebec has been stung by a massive beer robbery and police are scouring the Canadian province for criminals who made off with a huge stash of beer, dried beef and pepperoni!

Here’s the deal…

On March 12th, more than 20,000 cases of beer, dried beef and pepperoni worth almost C$500,000 were stolen from a warehouse in the Quebec city of Longueuil, according to the National Post.

The beer, (believed to be cases of Grolsch), as well as the unspecified quantities of cured Canadian meats, were believed to have been taken from three delivery trucks that were parked at the site.

The massive beer and pepperoni theft has left that proud northern nation stunned, which may help explain why word of The Great Grolsch Rip-off is only now filtering down to the states.

also gone missing

Police spokesman Jean-Pierre Voutsinos reported that the thieves drove off with the beer and cured meat before dumping the trucks in Montreal, but of course without the 20,000 cases of Grolsch beer or the missing pepperoni!

The Montreal police are reporting that the ‘beer and pepperoni’ thieves are approaching businesses in the area and attempting to sell their ill-gotten spoils.

Authorities are asking local retailers to be wary of people selling large quantities of Grolsch beer and Jack Link’s brand dried beef and pepperoni. (Yah think?)

American Craft Beer stands with the people of Canada at this sober (and sobering) time…

And for those of you who think that a beer and pepperoni robbery of this scale could never happen in the United States…we suggest that the havoc caused by beer crime knows no boundaries…and that maybe you should think again.
