If you know beer you’re probably very familiar with Firestone Walker’s 805 Blonde Ale. It was originally conceived as a Central Coast California-only year-round release, an every-day anytime beer that immediately caught fire and spread well beyond its uber-local aspirations.
805 is a phenomenon in the beer biz, a rising craft beer flagship at a time when most flagships are taking water.
Conner Coffin is his own kind of phenomenon, a Santa Barbara-based professional surfer who is making waves. And Coffin has now become one of 805’s “Authenticos”—a band of ambassadors who collectively represent the culture and values of the brand’s ethos.
The new black and white video which shows Coffin riding waves across Santa Barbara, Fiji and Oahu, is all lifestyle. It’s a mini-surfing doc, not a crass beer ad and it’s worth watching.
“Our partnership with Conner was a long time coming—we have a common passion for sharing how life in the 805 is exportable to the world,” said Dustin Hinz, CMO of Firestone Walker Brewing Company. “We’re honored to have Conner join our cast of Authenticos and we look forward to creating stories together that inspire others.”
Coffin shares a similar outlook. “Firestone Walker is part of the landscape where I grew up,” he said. “They’re ingrained in this place I call home, and we share a lot of the same values and pursuits. It just feels like the perfect time for me to become a part of the 805 Beer family and see where it takes us.”
805 is a beer inspired by California’s Central Coast. Its land, its people, and its laid-back way of life and its Authenticos film series, showcases Californians whose lives and lifestyles reflect that culture.
All the videos are done by Firestone Walker’s in-house crew and they’re all very cool.
