Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, it’s not safe to go back in the water, especially if you’re a floating Tiki bar.

We’ve that and more news that suggests that some people need to be more disciplined…

Drunken Man Arrested On Stolen Floating Tiki Hut

There’s so much to unpack in this weird bit of news. And we’ll start by admitting to having no clue about Cruisin’ Tikis Key West, a charter boat company in Florida that specializes in floating Tiki bars. That’s right, floating Tiki huts where you can cruise around the bay, while power-pounding island lagers along with your bikini-adorned (or not) friends.

As first reported by the Miami Herald, Tyln Earl Morlang, 26, of Independence, Missouri was found by the US coastguard in the stolen floating Tiki bar, which he had taken from operator Cruisin’ Tikis, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Morlang was spotted on the floating bar at around 8am local time on January 13 by a coastguard patrol boat in the Florida Keys.

The FWC told the Miami newspaper that the hut had been burnt in places and the VHF radio was partially melted. Johnna Sleith, one of the owners of Cruisin’ Tikis, said it was believed Morlang started fires in cup holders and water jugs to keep warm.

Amazingly this isn’t the first floating Tiki Bar incident to make US news recently…

Last September a struggling kayaker, who capsized in the waters of Lake George in New York, found his prayers unexpectedly answered by a floating Tiki bar full of Catholic priests.

Drunk Man Changes Name To Celine Dion

A UK man formally known as Thomas Dodd, legally changed his name to Celine Dion after indulging in “one too many” watching the singer in concert on YouTube.

In order to legally change your name in the United Kingdom, one has to request official Deed Poll documents be sent to you, which have to be signed before a witness.

Dion super-fan Dodd forgot all about his ingenious idea until the papers arrived in the post a few days later. “I’m a bit obsessed with Celine Dion and always have been, but I don’t know why it crossed my mind to change my name to hers. I can’t really remember the night and forgot all about it the next day,” Dodd told The Metro.
