American Craft Beer’s Economic Impact In 2016

beer, American Craft Beer’s Economic Impact In 2016Craft beer means big bucks in the USA and our friends at the Brewer’s Association have just released their newest Economic Impact Report.

And even with the industry’s growth slowing, it’s impressive news.

Here are some of the highlights for their biennial analysis…

Last year the craft beer industry contributed an amazing $67.8 billion to the US economy.

That’s a 21.7% increase from 2014 that highlights the continuing economic power of America’s small and independent craft brewers and their continuing contributions to other businesses and healthy communities in each and every state.

The Brewers Association’s economic number was derived from the total impact of craft beer as it moves through the three-tier system (breweries, wholesalers and retailers), and also factors in the non-beer products that brewpub restaurants and brewery taprooms sell.

American craft brewers also generated more than 456,373 full-time jobs in 2016, a 7.5% increase from 2014, with 128,768 jobs directly at breweries and brewpubs, including serving staff at brewpubs.

The Brewer’s Association also addressed craft beer output by state:
