Cascade Brewing’s 2018 Craft Beer Lineup

With 2017 now in the rear-view mirror, American breweries are positioning themselves in an increasingly competitive environment, with new additions to their portfolios. And here’s some of what Cascade Brewing has planned for 2018.

Portland, Oregon’s Cascade Brewing will be releasing 11 beers, (all available in both bottle and draft), in 2018. That’s eight core offerings and three limited releases and all of them sound serious.

Here’s some of this year’s offering which we’re particularly excited about…

Cascade will kick off their core release schedule with the return of Sang Rouge a blend of sour red ales aged in select red wine barrels and fresh oak puncheons for up to 24 months.Cascade, Cascade Brewing’s 2018 Craft Beer Lineup

Then in March, Cascade will release Kentucky Peach, a blend of barrel-aged sour wheat and quad ales, aged in bourbon and wine barrels with fresh Pacific Northwest peaches. When Kentucky Peach first debuted as an uber-limited release last year it was an immediate hit and sold out almost overnight and the brewery has more than doubled the batch size for 2018.

Cascade will smartly be returning their three top selling beers of all time – Apricot, Kriek, and Sang Noir respectively in mid-April, mid-June and mid-August. Each of these beers is named for the year the fruit it uses was picked and nuanced by that particular fruit’s growing season which keeps things interesting.

Peche Fume is Cascade’s late summer release. It first debuted in 2017 but was only available on draft at the brewery’s two pubs in Portland. This year, Cascade will be offering this barrel-aged smoked wheat and blonde ales blend in bottles as well.

If Cascade has what might be considered a ‘White Whale’ release, it would have to be Cuvee du Jongleur. Now a cult legend, it first debuted in 2009 as a blend of select reds, triples and quads that was sold exclusively at the brewery’s two pubs. And next October they’ll be resurrecting this long-lost project after being out of the rotation for nearly a decade.

To cap off 2018, Cascade will be releasing the second edition of its popular Rose City Sour. First introduced in the summer of 2017, this exotic flowered blend has become one of Cascade top selling creations.

Cascade will be debuting Melonious Blond their first melon sour in February as a one-off limited release.Cascade, Cascade Brewing’s 2018 Craft Beer Lineup

In April they’ll be releasing an as yet unnamed collaboration they’re doing with the Midwest’s Upland Brewing using fresh pears from Oregon and fresh Paw Paw fruit (mango meets banana) from Indiana.

Framblanc Cascade’s third and last limited release in 2018 will ship in July and this aged Sour Blond Ale with raspberries promises to be worth the wait.
