Budweiser, which is licensed and produced in Canada by AB InBev-owned Labatt Breweries is now brewed using with 100% renewable energy, thanks to a February agreement with Direct Energy North America’s largest provider of ecologically sound electricity and natural gas,.

In British Columbia, home to Budweiser’s Creston brewery Direct Energy will provide electricity generated through biomass according to Beverage Daily.

Its Edmonton brewery in Alberta will use energy generated from hydroelectric sources and may even include wind power in the near future.

And Budweiser’s Central and Eastern breweries will be powered by hydroelectric generators in Quebec.

One of Budweiser’s most talked about Super Bowl commercials this year showcased its prized Clydesdale horses and Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind” to champion its commitment to renewable energy. And to further emphasize its commitment, Anheuser-Busch is offset 100% of the electricity used to power Super Bowl week in Atlanta with clean, renewable electricity.
