In spite of the almost 8000 craft breweries currently online in the US, we continue to receive new announcements almost daily.

And here’s just some of what’s been happening…

Central Machine Works Brewery and Beer Hall Opens

East Austin’s Govalle neighborhood, which has developed into its own brewing district over the last couple of years, has a much-anticipated new addition which is being helmed by Scott Rynbrandt (lead brewer, formerly of Oasis Texas Brewing Company).

Located in a smartly refurbished workshop which dates back to the 1940s and has welded everything from airplane parts during World War II to custom fabrications for local businesses, Central Machine Works Brewery and Beer Hall, offers “beers for the working man and woman,” as well as a beer-friendly beer menu according To Austin Eater.

A welcome newcomer to a neighborhood already rich with some of Austin’s most exciting brewers, including the Brewer’s Table (right on the same block), Blue Owl Brewing, Hops & Grain Brewing, and Friends and Allies Brewing Company, Central Machine Works also offers a spacious family-friendly beer garden and a stage for live music, (this is Austin after all).

Flounder Brewing, and CW Brewing and Distillery Join Forces to Build New Farm Destination

Jeremy “Flounder” Lees, who owns and runs Flounder Brewing in Hillsborough, NJ has announced plans to team up with CW Brewing and Distillery to create a new brewery and distilling destination in a 250-year old Dutch barn and stables.

The stable portion will serve as the brewery and feature garage doors on the exterior so visitors can see the brewing process…. The back portion of the barn will also have outdoor covered seating with views of the rolling farmlands.

“I feel the need to have an experience,” Lees explained to Patch… “Have tours, beer and the agricultural experience. This will be an experience that is not just going to another industrial park to sample beer but instead have the production inside a historical building where everything tells a story.”

The second 100-year-old English barn on the property will be rebuilt incorporating the original materials. This barn will house CW Brewing and Distillery.

“The beautiful agricultural setting and proximity to Flounder Brewing is a perfect match for us,” CW owner Camden Winkelstein told Patch. “CW will distill high-quality grain to glass single malt whiskey along with bourbon, gin and seasonal specialties.”
