The growing cannabis beer segment is making moves to address the “sober-curious” movement, with beers that are both alcohol and bud free…And maybe there’s a market for this, but we’re taking a pass.

In August, Two Roots Brewing, a craft brewing leader in the cannabis-infused beer arena, announced plans to roll out a line of non-cannabis-infused, non-alcoholic craft beers.

Brewed as a buzz-less alternative to both beer and bud, Two Roots’ new low-calorie brews will contain B12 and electrolytes…so there’s that.

As too how Two Roots’ new products will taste remains a question for now, but unfortunately fizzy bong water comes to mind, like it or not.

Targeted at the health conscious and active lifestyle, Two Roots’ forthcoming buzz-free ‘beer’ will be priced between $12 and $13.99 per 6-pack according to Brewbound.

Even designer spring water comes cheaper than that.

In a press release Two Roots Brewing is more convinced about the viability sober alternative beverages than we are…

“Non-alcoholic beer is one of the fastest growing segments in the beer market, growing at approximately an 8% CAGR over the past few years. Due to an increasing demand for healthier, more mindful consumption, non-alcoholic beer continues to capture significant market share among younger audiences internationally and across the United States.”

“Two Roots Brewing Co. offers consumers an authentic craft beer experience, that is low calorie, vitamin B12 fortified, and electrolyte filled beverage that can be incorporated into a daily, active lifestyle.”

Two Roots Brewing’s non-alcoholic and cannabis-free line will debut at all BevMo! stores across California and Amy Gutierrez, Category Manager for the beverage retailer remains “sober-positive” about it…

“Non-alcoholic beer is one of the fastest growing segments and we are expanding the category by offering our consumers various options within the category. We’re thrilled to exclusively offer Two Roots Brewing Co. in all of our locations in California.”

Depending on this new product’s success, Two Roots, whose name, Two Roots, cleverly references two routes to getting high,  may have to change its branding to Three Roots Brewing…just sayin’.

And you can get as “sober-curious” as you want…But as we’ve explained, we’ll taking a pass.
