Big Beer Prices To Rise In The UK

AB InBev, home to  brands Budweiser, Stella Artois, Corona, Beck’s and Hoegaarden, has announced that they’ll be increasing the wholesale prices on all their beers sold in the United Kingdom by 3.9% starting February 1st.

beer, Big Beer Prices To Rise In The UKIn an emailed statement AB InBev explained that the price hike reflects “ongoing pressure in the beer industry and the UK economy.”

This news comes on top of a recent Morning Advertiser report that Molson Coors, would also be raising the wholesale prices on their various brands anywhere from 2.3 to 3%.

So what’s behind these increases and what does it mean for Great Britain’s beer drinkers?

According the Drinks Business the February increases are an effort for these major brewing companies to keep up with rising inflation in the United Kingdom, and could tack on as much as 12p (about 17 cents US) to the average price of a pint of beer.
