Summer is ON and American craft brewers are welcoming the warming weather with fun new variety packs that make buying beer in bulk cool again.

AleSmith .394 Hometown Mixed Pack

For nearly a decade, AleSmith has been brewing .394 Pale Ale, in collaboration with baseball legend Tony Gwynn, who was famous for his love of beer and San Diego and now they’ve a new summer variety pack that celebrates all this classic beer’s variations.

In 2014, Tony Gwynn’s team asked AleSmith Brewing to create a distinctive beer for the baseball legend. The result was AleSmith .394 one of the brewery’s most smooth and approachable creations.  With the newest mixed Hometown Pack, AleSmith Brewing continues this tradition, an expression Gwynn’s love for beer and his city.

Available Now throughout San Diego County the AleSmith .394 Hometown Mixed Pack offers a little something for every beer lover whether they prefer a classic pale ale, a hazy IPA, or a lower ABV option. In addition to the classic .394 Pale Ale, the mixed pack includes Hazy .394 – a juicy and refreshing interpretation of the original – and Session .394 – a lighter, more sessionable version of the original.

“We’re excited to introduce the new .394 Hometown Pack,” said Brandon Richards, President of AleSmith Brewing Company. “We believe the combination of our classic .394 Pale Ale, the juicy and tropical Hazy .394, and the refreshing Session .394 creates the perfect mixed pack for any occasion,

Tröegs Summer Better Variety 15-Pack

Hershey, PA-based Tröegs Independent Brewing always delivers interesting variety packs, and their new summertime collection is very solid. Plus it’s a 15-Pack which is three beers better, right?

Tröegs latest features four of their most popular offerings (always an IPA or two) and something new that’s only available in this summertime package.

In addition to three dynamic IPAs the Summer Better 15-Pack skews to the lighter side of things and here’s how Tröegs explains them…

Perpetual IPA (7.5% ABV) – Artisanal meets mechanical in a state of IPA we call Perpetual. Cycling through our HopBack vessel and dry-hopping method, this bold Imperial Pale Ale emerges rife with sticky citrus rind, pine balm and tropical fruit. We taste: citrus, notes of pine, subtle grain

Sunshine Pilsner (4.5% ABV) – It takes the right ingredients, people and processes to nail the complex balance of two-row barley, zesty Saaz hops and lager yeast. Secondary fermentation creates natural carbonation that delivers soft notes of fresh-cut straw and flowering herbs. In the end, this bright and refreshingly clean American craft pilsner is our go-to when the sun is shining and makes us happy when skies are gray.

Perpetual Haze (7.5% ABV) – This beer combines the clean, crisp bitterness of a West Coast IPA and the softness of a hazy. Pale malts lay down an underlying complexity. Raw wheat, London 3 yeast and vigorous dry-hopping stir up a haze that cradles the citrusy hop combination. Front and center are Citra and Cashmere, unlocking juicy notes of orange, passionfruit and nectarine.

Summer’s Here Lager (4.2% ABV) – Bring on those summer vibes with this petite yet flavorful lager. Starting with pilsner malt and flaked rice, we employ krausening to lend a crisp finish and subtle fruity esters. Dry-hopping with Citra and Saaz unveils notes of bright citrus, lemon rind and flowering herbs. This beer is only available in this 15-pack.

Field Study IPA (6.5% ABV) – In the hop fields we daydream and study, and at the brewery we tinker and test. For Field Study, dry-hopping delivers notes of ripe grapefruit, mango, pear and melon. Add a backbone of local rustic pale malt, and Field Study is just what we were after: a slightly hazy yet bright summer daydream come true.
