More than 200,000 people take New Belgium’s free brewery tour in Colorado every year. But now visitors have more tour options at the Fort Collins-based craft brewery than ever before and we might just be looking at craft beer tourism’s future!
In an effort to cater to every level of craft beer enthusiast, New Belgium is now smartly offering enhanced brewery tour experiences in 2018.
In addition to New Belgium’s free standard tours (and these 90 minute sojourns, complete with samplings, are hardly standard) the brewery has designed different tours that hone in on particular brewing directions and provide a more in-depth journeys.
New Belgium’s Grain to Glass Tour is an extensive and detailed 2 hour tour that’s personally guided by one of their seasoned brewers who will take you through every stage of the brewing process.
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see where New Belgium houses its malt. They can taste wort in the brewhouse, sample multiple stages of fermentation in New Belgium’s cellar and watch as the final product is kegged, canned or bottled in the grand packaging hall. (Cost per person: $45)
New Belgium’s Walk in the Woods Tour showcases the brewery’s visionary sour program. This 2 hour tour is a geek-fest for those of us who love wild ales and sours and want to learn more about the art that goes into these nuanced exotics.
Not only will you be with the people responsible for beers like Le Kriek Noir and New Belgium’s acclaimed La Folie, you’ll be able to sample works-in-progress directly from towering wood foeders.
And to round out your wood cellar tour you’ll be guided through every stage of the blending process and invited to craft your own personal blend. The two-hour Walk in the Woods tour costs $65 per person.
New Belgium also offers private group tours at a reasonable price. The regular private tour is $250 per group up to 25 guests.
And the brewery’s Grand Cru Tour is more of a ‘choose your own adventure’ outing and you can end this deluxe experience by grabbing a beer right off the packaging line! ($200 for a group of 10 people)
