This weekend’s new beer offerings are more aggressive than seasonal , but that doesn’t mean they’re not fun …So welcome to our latest Beer Run for August…And here’s plenty to like here.
Brutish Brewing (San Leandro, CA) – After months of test batches and experimental releases, Drake’s Brewing is embracing an exciting new style. Pale, dry and highly-carbonated, Drake’s Brightside Extra Brut IPA is a 7% ABV India Pale Ale with an almost Champagne-esque mouthfeel and a fruity, crisp finish.
Stout Stuff (San Diego, CA) – AleSmith Brewing is now offering high-velocity barrel-age exotics in more accessible 11.2oz two-packs. And their first release in this smaller format is yet another take on a brewery classic. AleSmith Cinnamon Vanilla Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout is a 13% ABV blend of two different variations…the first part a blend aged in American oak bourbon barrel…the second, a blend that was aged in bourbon barrels that had previously held cinnamon and vanilla extract. After aging, these two parts were blended and aged again with vanilla beans and cinnamon sticks and given a dosing of locally roasted coffee!
Because It Matters (Escondido, CA) – For the first time ever, Stone Brewing has taken the winning brew from its in-house Spotlight Series brewers competition and returned it as their prized anniversary release. Incredibly robust and proudly haze-free, Stone 22nd Anniversary Anni-Matter Double IPA is a MASSIVE 9.1% ABV India Pale Ale that was originally concieved by Stone brewers Jason Smith and Jose Flores.
Bell’s Celebrates Deschutes (Comstock, MI) – Tim Gossack who served as Deschutes’ Head Brewer from 1990-1996, and currently Bell’s Production Manager, was one of eight former Deschutes brewers invited back to Bend, Oregon to brew a special, unique one-time collaboration brew to celebrate Deschutes Brewery’s incredible 30 year milestone. And now Bell’s is releasing Bell’s Schwarzbier a modified version of that original beer… a 6.4% ABV Dark Lager that gets it right!
Congress Is Back In Session (Syracuse, NY) – After a 50 year hiatus, Willow Rock Brewing has returned a legendary beer that ruled Central New York from 1892-1962. Brewed in collaboration Onondaga Historical Association, Congress Beer is a 4.8% ABV crisp and refreshing lager that proudly embraces its past as it looks to the future.
