We love this time of year. The nights get colder, the beers bigger and the buzz all that much stronger…And with the weather cooling, we’ve five cold-weather drinking directions that you might want to chase down this weekend.

Prim And Proper (Bloomington, IN) – Upland Brewing is closing out 2017 with a couple of seasonal offerings. We already gushed about their Flanders Red Ale Crimson, but Upland has also released a new barrel-aged fruited ale that sounds pretty awesome. Upland Prim is the end of a journey that started with Basis, their Blonde Ale, which was aged up to six months in wine barrels and blended with plums and spices.

Brewed to Age 20 Years (Denver, CO) –   River North Brewery recently debuted The Vicennial Series. A series of beer intended to be aged up to twenty years (a vicennium). We’ve already hyped you on Vicennial I: God Complex, but there are more! A smoothly sinister midnight-black 15.7% Imperial Stout, Vicennial II: Shadowman, is an unfathomable feast of high-cacao dark chocolate and roasty espresso notes!

Ratted Out! (Portland, OR) – Lompoc Brewing is celebrating the holidays with seven winter releases. We’ve already hit on Lompoc’s Brewdolph and Lump of Coal, but we’ve another one of their holiday seasonals that you may need under the Christmas tree. Old Tavern Rat 2016 (another great name!), is a deep amber 9.4% ABV Barleywine that was barrel-aged to perfection for more than a year.beer, Beer Run – New Barleywines, Winter Seasonals And Imperial Stouts To Chase Down

Not Shucking Around (Cape Cod, MA) – Cape Cod Beer will be celebrating its aquatic terroir with a defining December 1st release. Taking its lead from a classic Irish tradition, Cape Cod Shucker’s Reward Oyster Stout is a 5.3% wintertime refresher that’s brewed using shellfish sourced from all 15 of Cape Cod fishing communities.

Russian Collusion (St Paul, MN) – Summit Brewing has a new Union Series Release that’s based on an authentic British recipe from the 1840s and is the  kind of classic Imperial Stout that Summit’s Head Brewer, Damian McConn liked to drink 20 years ago in the UK. Aging since last June in a 300-barrel stainless steel fermentation tank, Summit Union Series 6: Imperial Russian Stout Is a MASSIVE 10.5% ABV marriage of modern ingredients and time-honored brewing traditions.
