Bear Republic Fires Up Aid (Northern California) – Sonoma County’s Bear Republic Brewing is joining Russian River and the King Ridge Foundation, and will, for the next thirty days, be donating 50 cents on every case of Bear Republic beer sold to help victims of the region’s devastating fires.
Bear Republic is also asking the brewery’s wholesalers to support their efforts by matching their donations, or making a one-time donation to support the region’s many victims. Bear Republic’s brewpubs will also be offering free meals to the first responders and local fire fighters at their Healdsburg and Rohnert Park locations.
Five Bear Republic employees have lost their homes to these cataclysmic fires, so this effort couldn’t be more personal or more necessary.

Sweet Home Alabama (Birmingham, AL) – Alabama’s oldest and largest brewery, Good People Brewing, announced on Monday that they’ve acquired and will be the new managers of Avondale Brewing, a Birmingham craft beer operation that was founded in 2011.
The Founders of Good People, who purchased the brewery, its Sour Room and music venue from Avondale Holdings, a subsidiary of Orchestra Partners, plan to oversee and grow Avondale Brewing as a distinct and separate brand and to build on its already established success minus (if we’ve got this right) the live music piece.
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (San Clemente, CA) – Last night we tapped a classic from Drake’s Brewing and needless to say things got wild! Deployed with the freshest hops in their arsenal, Drake’s War Pigeon Double IPA is an 8% ABV India Pale Ale that clearly takes no prisoners.
