We all know that beer can be a lifesaver on occasion…especially for one Minnesota man who was attempting to jump off a bridge.

Here’s the deal…

According to the St Paul Pioneer Press beer saved the life of a man on the outer ledge of a bridge over Interstate 94 in St Paul, Minnesota…

A lifesaver

But really it was Kwame Anderson, a beer salesman and stand-up comedian in the Twin Cities, along with Jason Gaebel, who were driving by in a Coors Light delivery truck and noticed the distraught man in the dangerous situation, that ultimately put an end to the suicide attempt.

But beer definitely played a part…

Inspired by Denzel  Washington,  who played a hostage negotiator in the movie Inside Man,  Anderson (the ultimate beer salesman as far as we’re concerned) spent more than an hour building a rapport with the suicidal man, coaxing him to step away from the precipice with an offer of Coors Light.

The offer of beer eventually persuaded and the man was able to inch his way off the bridge and out of danger where he was immediately treated by paramedics.

St Paul Police Sergeant Mike Ernster, praised Anderson’s actions and instincts, telling Pioneer Press: “Beer has been bringing people together for a long, long time. Today, it brought people together in a life-saving way”.
