The “World of Beer” franchise is emerging from bankruptcy. We’ve that, “The Most Popular US Beers,” Anthony Bourdain, and more.

The Most Popular Beers in the US Now Imports

Beer consumers have traditionally favored American-brewed beers. But in a new poll released by online research data and analytics group YouGov, imported beers outperformed domestic brews in 2024 for the first time ever.

Now to be sure, this poll reflects beer popularity in terms of “consumer awareness, brand perception and loyalty,” not sales, which we would argue is a more definitive gauge of a beer’s popularity. But still…

YouGov recruits millions of people to be part of their survey panels, and selects a smaller group of respondents from that enormouse data base, (in this case people who are positive about beer) to take part in a survey either online or by phone.

So although we would argue that this survey is probably more valid than Google’s “most queried” rankings, we still question its overall value.

But again,  that doesn’t mean that its findings aren’t interesting.

World of Beer Emerges from Bankruptcy

Founded in 2007, the World of Beer franchise chain came into its own during craft beer’s boom years. But with craft beer sales slowing the once uber-hot brand has languished and on August 2nd 2024 it filed for bankruptcy with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Middle District of Florida Tampa Division.

But in December, the company announced that it had restructured its debt as part of its Chapter 11 process and that it is receiving continued inquiries from potential franchisees.

“We remain deeply committed to serving our loyal customers, supporting our employees and franchises, and driving innovation and growth in a competitive market,” CEO Paul Avery said in a statement. “I believe this is just the beginning of a prosperous new chapter for our brand.”
