This from the irrepressible Watt who never Misses the opportunity to promote his beer…

“Hey Diageo, how about the Black Heart v Guinness challenge? We would love to buy some kegs of Guinness and put your beer head to head with Black Heart on tap in all of our BrewDog bars. We would then let people vote as to which one they like best? Are you up for the challenge? 😉”

A craft beer take on Guinness Irish Stout, BrewDog Back Heart is a no-nonsense 4.1% ABV draught-style alternative that is looking to cash in on the enormous popularity of the dry stout-style in the UK.

According to the Scottish Daily Express, one beer lover who participated in the stout challenge tweeted this…

“I had a pint of Black Heart at BrewDog Liverpool on Saturday. Excellent. Later I had a Guinness at Shenanigans. Both were good, sorry but Guinness wins hands down.”

Instant Beer Powder Developed That Will Reduce CO2

We’re all familiar with powdered coffee and instant hot chocolate but is there a demand powdered beer? Two German brewers think the world is ready for its new powdered invention which they expect to bring to market by the end of the year according to the Drinks Business.

Klosterbrauerei Neuzelle a monastery brewery in Germany hopes that the beer powder it has developed could be a turning point for the carbon footprint of beer exports – eschewing bottles and crates in favor of the much lighter powder packets.

“We have calculated that, if we now relate this to Germany, we can save about 3 to 5 percent of the CO2 emissions for Germany alone,” said the brewer’s general manager Stefan Fritsche. “And if you look at it globally, that would be about half a percent of CO2 emissions worldwide that we could reduce.”

The current instant beer powder is non-alcoholic but the company is bullish about the possibilities.

“We want the complete beer taste. We have the foam, we already have the beer taste. We want to add the carbon dioxide in powder form. We want to add the alcohol in powder form. We can do all that with powder. And of course it is absolutely fascinating that we have succeeded. For the first time worldwide.”
