WarPigs Name New Head Brewer (Denmark) – WarPigs, Copenhagen’s adventurous brewpub that’s helmed by Mikkeller and America’s 3 Floyds has named a new head brewer to replace Kyle Wolak who moved from the states two years ago to oversee its launch.
Lan-Xin takes over for Wolak (who is reportedly returning to the US for an unnamed position at Vermont’s Hill Farmstead) and given the fact that she’ been WarPigs second-in-command since the brewpub opened in 2015, she was the obvious choice to step in.
In 2017 WarPigs brought their collaborative beers (Lazurite IPA, Salmon Pants Lager and Foggy Geezer Hazy IPA) to Chicago, and there’s been some speculation that there might be a US-based WarPigs in the eventual offing, which is something we’d love to see.

Heineken Gets Wild (Netherlands) Heineken International is launching what they are calling the word’s first wild lager in NYC this month, and we can’t help but be interested.
Named H41 Heineken’s new beer is brewed using a new yeast strain that was found growing on trees in the mountains of Patagonia, Argentina.
Discovered by Diego Libkind, an Argentinian scientist, the new yeast strain has reportedly been identified as “the saccharomyces eubayanus species, one of lager yeast’s long-lost parents.”
Named after the latitude where the new yeast strain was discovered, Heineken’s H41 is the first from the brewery’s Wild Lagers Series, and the company said there are more wild lagers in the works.
