Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne to collaborate with Dogfish Head in 2018

November’s just flying by…and clearly the craft beer biz isn’t slowing down any time soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in into all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that.

Oft-Centered & Flaming (Milton, DE) – Dogfish Head has announced their 2018 band collaboration. And if you’re a fan of a certain iconic Grammy award-winning alternative rock band from Oklahoma City, you’re gonna be psyched, because the oft-centered progressive brewery will be teaming up with none other than The Flaming Lips.

Acclaimed for their elaborate, over-the-top live shows, The Flaming Lips have built a rabid following over the years of music lovers who are drawn to their lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, as well as to their trippy songs and album titles.

Great music and serious beer are part of Dogfish Head’s DNA.  The brewery has already composed a musically inspired series of iconic beers and aligned themselves with artists like Miles Davis, Deltron 3030, The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam and most recently, Guided by Voices.  And we can’t wait to see what Sam Calagione and The Flaming Lips do next year.

Words To Drink By (Princeton, NJ) – “The Flaming Lips are one of the most innovative and collaborative bands of all time and Dogfish shares a similarly playful and adventurous point of view.”   Sam Calagione Dogfish Head.

Avery, a mid-sized heritage brewer, opened a new state-of-the-art brewing in 2015, just in time to compete with more American breweries online than ever before, and saddled with expansion debt at a time when craft beer sales were beginning to slow nationally.

Avery becomes the latest in a growing number of Colorado breweries, which now includes Longmont’s Oskar Blues, Ft Collins’ Funkwerks, and Denver’s Renegade Brewing, who have all taken on differing degrees of outside investment. And Breckenridge is now of course, a wholly owned AB InBev property.

Brewed bright ruby red using authentic Abbey Ale yeast, Upslope Christmas Ale is an 8.2% ABV winter seasonal with welcome dark fruit and spicy notes.
