Burial Beer’s Forestry Camp

Yikes…February already. And clearly the craft beer biz isn’t slowing down any time soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in into all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that.

New Beer Camp Comes To Town (Asheville, NC) – Move over Sierra Nevada because Burial Beer Co just informed us that they’ll be debuting their own version of beer camp this summer, something cool that they’re calling Forestry Camp.

Burial Beer’s Forestry Camp will feature a two-story bar housed in former barracks from the early 1900s that served as the temporary home for the Civilian Conservation Corps crews who built the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The two-acre Forestry Camp campus is currently home to Burial’s production brewery, corporate offices, and sour barrel facility, where day-to-day operations have been conducted since fall of 2016 according to the Citizen Times.

Words To Drink By (Asheville, NC) – Forestry Camp was named as such because it truly is a camp…Six buildings are spread across its two acres, creating a feel akin to a winery estate or a university commons.”  Tim Gormley, co-Founder Burial Beer Co

Scott Jennings, head brewer at Sierra Nevada’s Asheville compound travel to just outside Munich to be part of this ‘New World’ meets ‘Old World’ collaboration, according to our friend Tara Nurin at Food & Wine. And Jennings will partner with Weihenstephan Brewmaster Tobias Zollo all over again in Asheville this summer, to jointly produce Sierra Nevada’s 2018 Oktoberfest release.
