Braven Brewing’s Marshall Thompson and Eric Feldman

We’re half way through September already…and clearly the craft beer biz isn’t slowing down any time soon. But no worries, the Beer Buzz is always on the case, keeping you up on all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that!

Braven Joins Brooklyn’s Brewing Boom (Bushwick, NY) – Although Braven Brewing’s Eric Feldman and Marshall Thompson have  been producing and distributing their beer line since 2015, they’ve been limited to contract brewing and never had their own ‘”brick & mortar” operation until last weekend when they opened a new beer destination and joined a growing family of cutting-edge breweries in NYC’s hipster boroughs.

Braven Brewing Company Bar & Kitchen is Bushwick all the way. Located in 2,500-square-foot warehouse that was once home to Lantern Hall has an 18-seat bar and table-seating for 40 to 50 guests according to Eater.

Braven is only the latest addition to the NYC borough’s uber-exciting brewing scene joining nearby breweries like Kings County Brewers Collective, Interboro Spirits and Ales, and Grimm Artisanal Ales, all of which have opened over the last couple of years.

Words to Drink By (Brooklyn) ““We want people to feel as close to the brewing process as possible; to see it, smell it, and taste it.”  Marshall Thompson / Braven Brewing

The UK Is Now Home To The Most Breweries Per Capita In The World (United Kingdom) – According to a recent report released by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, England is now home to the most breweries per capita of any place in the world, leading the banking analysts to speculate if the country’s frothy euphoria might lead to a craft beer bubble.

The success of the pioneering craft breweries in the United Kingdom “has attracted more entrepreneurs, some of whom honed their skills with homebrew kits, to raise money and open their own microbreweries, reports the Financial Times, all of whom have  “benefited from a tax break, introduced in 2002, allowing breweries producing less than 5,000 hectoliters to pay 50 percent less beer duty than their larger counterparts.”

Medium-bodied and deep ruby black, Samuel Adams Black Lager is a 4.9% ABV American take on the Schwarzbier, a traditional German beer style dating back to around 800 BC.
