Summer is ON! And brewers are celebrating July with a variety of intoxicating new beer offerings that pair brilliantly with the season.
Beer / Wine / Fine (Cooperstown, NY) – Brewery Ommegang has brand new addition to its Co-Fermentation Project, a series of beers that blur the line between brewing and winemaking and explore the interaction of grapes and grain. Ommegang Saisonztraminer is a 6.7% ABV beer/wine hybrid that begins as a delicate Farmhouse Saison which is blended with gewürztraminer grape juice and then co-fermented using the brewery’s Belgian house yeast. Whew!
Things Sour At Deschutes (Bend, OR) – The Deschutes Brewery has a brand new Sour Series release that was inspired by the New American culinary cocktail tradition. An approachable melding of Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops with locally sourced berries, Deschutes Marionberry Lavender is a 4.3% ABV American Sour Ale that is infused with Oregon Marionberry and aromatic lavender. Look for it to be available at retail by mid-July.
Going Full Tilt (Baltimore, MD) – Full Tilt Brewing has a new addition to its Hops-the-Cat Adventure Series. Crafted under new Head Brewer, Brian Smith’s watch, Full Tilt Boomshakalaka is a 7.5% ABV India Pale Ale that was double dry-hopped with Ekuanot, Citra, and Mosaic.
Canned Exuberance (Bend, OR) – Worthy Brewing has a new addition to its impressive small batch Hopstar Series. Brewed with Oregon-grown blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries along with Jacobsen’s Pinot Noir Salt, Exuberance Summer Sour is an approachable Americanized Gose style limited release with a magenta pour and a bright effervescence.
Day Sipper (Downers Grove, IL) – Alter Brewing Company is returning a popular summer seasonal (both on draft and in 6-pack cans) that was inspired by the classic German style. Alter Day Sipper (love the name!) is a 4.9% ABV Pilsner that was brewed to pair brilliantly with anything summer.
