August is ON…And brewers are addressing the warm weather with a variety of intriguing new beer offerings, big and small, that pair brilliantly with the late summer season.
Lakewood Celebrates 7th Anniversary With Something Exotic (Dallas, TX) – Lakewood Brewing is celebrating its 7th anniversary with a beer that combines old world and new world beer styles and brewing technology. Lakewood Lion’s Share VII is an Imperial Grisette, aged in Sauvignon barrels that according to the brewery also “draws inspiration from the Hazy IPA craze.”
Gourdian Not (Saint Louis, MO) – Schlafly Beer is returning an award-winning seasonal that it has been brewing for 10 years. Fermented in pounds of fresh pumpkin squash before being filtered through a spiced infusion of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, Schlafly Pumpkin Ale is an 8% ABV limited release that according to the brewery “drinks like a slice of pie in a bottle.”
Up to the Challenge (Cloverdale, CA) – Bear Republic Brewing has a new Challenge Series release that takes dankness to a whole new level. Bear Republic Challenge Series #58 Uber Dank IPA is an aggressive 7% ABV India Pale Ale with pleasantly toasty mouthfeel and a sticky hop finish.
Divine Flights (Kihei, Hawaii) – On Tuesday, August 13th Maui Brewing is debuting something special at its Kihei Tasting Room. Brewed to honor Saint Damien, the Belgium-born Priest canonized for his vocation on the island of Molokai from 1873 to 1889, Maui Saint Damien is a 10.7% ABV Belgian Strong Dark Ale, aged in brandy and bourbon barrels from Woodford Reserve, Double Oak, and Heaven Hill.
Lemon Made (Baltimore, MD) – DuClaw Brewing has a new seasonal offering hitting retail this month. Available through September in 12oz can 6-packs, DuClaw Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops is a 7.1% ABV tart IPA brewed with lemon drop hops, Yuzu citrus fruits and lactose. With distribution in 18 states and DC, DuClaw keeps things fresh by releasing new beers every eight weeks.
