Some of the best beer events, beyond festivals and beer dinners, are the charity events sponsored by local breweries that donate products, time, and brewery space to support those in need within their own communities.

They say that Labor Day weekend is summer's last hurrah, and in places with four real, distinct seasons this may be true. In Los Angeles, however, summer sticks around. I can barely hear the Monday Night Football announcers over the drone of my air conditioner struggling to beat-back the day's lingering 90-degree heat.

I'm not complaining; I love summer. But I can't fool myself too much longer; the light is changing. Twilight deepens earlier with each passing day. Even in LA, summer is winding down.

As many Bostonians may recall, Memorial Day weekend was cold, rainy - and the setting for the city's first proper rock festival, Boston Calling. Two days of live bands, good eats, and huddling in unseasonably chilly weather brought a lot of music fans together.

His documentary not only shows his passion for life as a beer expert with 40 years of memorized beer history, but also documents his personal growth of overcoming obstacles to be an inspiration to the autism community.

Our friends at the Brewers Association just sent us an urgent communiqué with the results of their annual "Great American Beer Bar" contest. This year's competition, which they ran on CraftBeer.com, resulted in more than 5,000 nominations and 37,000 votes and we're rushing you 2013's results because we're assuming that many of you will be out drinking tonight - as usual.
