, Aquaman Actor Jason Momoa Stars In Hilarious Guinness Beer Ad

Who knew that actor Jason Momoa was 2% Irish? That may explain his love of Guinness beer.

Here’s the deal…

Jason Momoa, who stars as Aquaman in the DC film series, “has a long history and well-documented love affair with Guinness, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “From visiting headquarters in Ireland while filming Game of Thrones to slamming pints to get pumped for Aquaman, the actor hasn’t been shy about sharing his passion for the stout.”

But now the charismatic actor has taken that relationship to a whole new level, he’s just starred in and co-directed an amusing video spot for Guinness that was done by his own production company.

The ad is not just a celebration of Guinness, it also celebrates Momoa’s heritage (his mother is native Hawaiian and Samoan, his father Irish, German, and Native American). In fact, the commercial was a family affair, (his mom evenmakes an appearance).

And the spot, which was developed by On the Roam, a production company he founded along with Brian Mendoza is hilarious. Upon learning that he’s 2% Irish from a DNA company Momoa  careens across town to celebrate with his fellow Irishmen in a local pub.

“I’ve wanted to direct for Guinness for 12 years now. They have, in my opinion, the best commercials in the world,” Momoa, who shot with Guinness in New Zealand, told The Drum. “It was fun pitching this idea to them, they loved it; and now, it’s turned into a dream job.”

“Finally working with Jason has been so special. For years, he’s been a huge fan of ours and of course we’re huge fans of his,” Joyce He, Guinness brand director,  said in a statement.

“But this is more than just another partnership: together with Jason, we are starting a new chapter in our iconic story that will bring Guinness to more people, places and celebrations. I can’t wait to keep sharing with the world what we already know: any day is a lovely day for a Guinness.”

Not surprisingly, the new Guinness television ad titled ‘Lovely Day for a Guinness,’ began running just in time for St Patrick’s Day with different versions slated to run across digital and social media for the rest of the year.
