Serious 4th Of July Drinking & Grilling (Everywhere, USA) – Looks like this weekend’s weather is going to be perfect, so plan for something outside if you haven’t already. The 4th of July weekend has long been the PERFECT time for all-day drinking parties, impressing your friends with your new found culinary skills, and waking up you neighbors with that stash of illegal fireworks you purchased on the deep web.
Fireworks / More Fireworks / And Even More Fireworks (Everywhere, USA) – If you no longer understand the transcendent pleasures of a good old-fashioned fireworks display, you could be:
- Too old and/or grumpy about everything
- Still haunted by the finger you lost to firecrackers back in high school
- In rehab and understandably grumpy about everything
And if you can no longer muster any fireworks love, you’ve officiallly become a total BUZZKILL and are hereby BANNED from ACB.
On The Big Screen – This weekend’s holiday movie opening is almost an indie flick, but the critics are loving it and it’s been generating near perfect buzz. Baby Driver stars newcomer Ansel Elgort as a young getaway driver coerced by a crime boss into taking part in a robbery that’s doomed to fail. It also stars John Hamm (who we love) and John Bernthal (who can be fun too).
TV Time And Streaming – Long holiday weekends were made for catching up on your HBO and Netflix favorites and getting into some of that new programming that everyone’s talking about. Were currently binging on Legion, Noah Hawley’s brilliant X-Men spinoff that debuted back in February but thankfully is still available to be streamed on FX. And we’ll also be spending some time with Fear The Walking Dead the addictive apocalyptic zombie spin-off that recently returned for a third season.
OUR 4th OF JULY WEEKEND BEER PICK
With summer now peaking and this being a long holiday weekend, we’ll be tapping into a sessionable favorite of ours from Virginia-based Starr Hill Brewing. Starr Hill’s The Hook is a citrusy and refreshing 4.9% ABV grapefruit session IPA that’s perfect at this time of year.
