The weekend has finally arrived…and you’re ready for the fun. Well good, because we’ve some fun ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer events, to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve another weekend beer suggestion for you as well, because we know you’ll be drinking.
A Beer Drinking Lulu In Honolulu (Hawaii) – The America On Tap’s roaming beer festival will be touching down at the Neal Blaisdell Center this Saturday March 24th when Honolulu On Tap makes its 3rd annual return. Choose from three pouring sessions, some 130+ beers and 65 of America’s best breweries…but whatever you do don’t miss this festive ‘on island’ beerganza.
TV Time & Steaming – Netflix just introduced a new docuseries that challenges their already heady roster of award-winning documentaries like The Making of a Murderer and Icarus. Directed by brothers Maclain and Chapman Way and produced by the Duplass brothers, Wild Wild Country tells the story Indian spiritual guru Rajneesh and the massive sex-cult commune he built in rural Oregon in 1981. While it started all sex, peace and love, it ended badly wit acts of attempted murder and cult leaders who ordered the poisoning of an entire town by spraying salad bars with salmonella. Good Times!
On The Big Screen – One of our favorite directors Stephen Soderbergh (Magic Mike, The Girlfriend Experience) has a new movie opening this weekend that looks like he’s tapping his inner M Night Shyamalan (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable). Unsane unleashes Soderbergh’s B-movie instincts as he wades into psychological thriller/Gaslight territory and gives it a high-tech spin. Could be cheesy…but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun!
Oysters And Beer…Yes! (St Louis, MO) – The largest stout and oyster festival in the Midwest returns to the Schlafly Tap Room this weekend for two days (March 23rd-24th) of serious beer and shellfish. The Schlafly Stout & Oyster Festival does it right, flying in almost 80,000 oysters and 20 star shuckers from both coasts. And this year will feature their best stout selection EVER including a number of never-before small-batch releases.
THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK
Lagunitas has never been shy about going unexpected places and their latest OneHitter Series release is a perfect example. Explained as a hybrid ale (but aren’t they all at Lagunitas?), Dark Swan Sour Ale is an uber-small batch, 8.5% ABV testament to sweetened tartness that was fermented with Petite Syrah grapes.
