American Craft Beer’s ‘All IPA’ Beer Alert

Sometimes we just get overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of new IPA’s making their way to retail and we’re forced to play catch-up! So here are five new India Pale Ales that you might want to run down!

Looking At Glasses Half Full (Crozet, VA) – Starr Hill has released a new spring seasonal and with warmer weather coming it’s not surprisingly an IPA. Fueled on a formidable foursome of Citra, Columbus, Mosaic and Galaxy hops, Starr Hill Looking Glass IPA is 6.5% ABV India Pale Ale with big hop aroma and minimal bitterness.

SweetWater Score! (Atlanta, GA) – Sweetwater Brewing has just released the latest from their Dank Tank Series and it’s an interesting collaboration with Relix and musician Kyle Hollingsworth of The String Cheese Incident. Senselessly fueled on an eclectic mix of El Dorado, Citra, Amarillo, and Idaho 7 hops, SweetWater Ground Score IPA is a 7.1% ABV semi-hazy India Pale Ale with a blurred clarity and juicy rich mouth feel

A Monstrous IPA (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer has returned a limited release for February that they righteously refer to as a “category 5 monster.” Built on almost insane amounts of Columbus hops, The Alpha Effect is a 7% ABV Hazy IPA with a clean, crisp malt profile and a piney aroma.

Proudly Offered, Humbly Crafted (Hood River, OR) – Home to many a great beer pFriem Family Brewing’s India Pale Ale is a Pacific Northwest wonder that you definitely need to chase down.  Rich with dank aromas of peach, citrus, papaya and bright lychee fruit, and grapefruit tones, pFriem IPA is a 7.2% ABV India Pale Ale with a fresh hoppy finish!

Relax, Just Do It (Orange County, CA) – The Bruery’s new spinoff brand Offshoot Beer, is offering a relaxing new year-round that you might want to chase down coming up. Brewed specifically to cover a much smaller distribution footprint that ensures cans arrive cold and in peak condition, Relax – it’s just a hazy IPA is a 6.8% ABV unfiltered India Pale Ale with tropical and citrusy notes and a pleasingly soft mouthfeel.
