London Calling (United Kingdom) – The Beavertown Brewery will be hosting a massive two-day beer festival that they’ve playfully named the Beavertown Extravaganza. Today and tomorrow (Sept 8th and 9th) London Town’s cutting-edge craft beer leader will be bringing 60 brilliant brewers to the Printworks London for a beerganza of epic proportions.
Very much in the tradition of Central California’s famed Firestone Walker Invitational, the Beavertown Extravaganza will serve as a celebration of, not just the UK’s considerable brewing scene, but also the world’s.
This year’s festival will include big-time names from the United Kingdom’s growing brewing community, seasoned players from Europe like Omnipollo and brewing leaders from the states including 3 Floyds, Modern Times and Dogfish Head.
On The Big Screen – One of the fall season’s most anticipated new movies opens this weekend that’s based on a Stephen King’s horror masterpiece. It tells the story of a small group of childhood friends who battle a monstrous clown (Bill Skarsgård) that lives in a small town’s sewers. With critics already praising the film’s acting, direction and most important of all, its faithfulness to the novel, many are calling It one of the best King adaptations!
TV Time & Streaming – And if you don’t want to fight the crowds lining up to see It at the movies this weekend, HBO has a new (and also highly anticipated) television drama deputing this weekend that might help you with your Game of Thrones detox. Written by The Wire’s David Simon along with novelist George Pelicans, The Deuce takes on Times Square in the 1970 and the pivotal moment in American culture, the moment when pornography became legal. The gritty series stars James Franco in dual roles of twin brothers, Frankie and Vincent Martino, and Maggie Gyllenhaal as a hooker with BIG aspirations.
