Craft beer means big bucks in the USA and our friends at the Brewer’s Association have just released their newest Economic Impact Report. And even with the industry’s growth slowing, it’s still impressive news.

Here are some of the highlights from their biennial analysis…

Last year the craft beer industry contributed an amazing $79.1 billion $67.8 to the US economy,

That’s a 4% increase from 2017 that highlights the continuing economic power of America’s small and independent craft brewers and their continuing contributions to other businesses and healthy communities in each and every state.

That economic number was derived from the total impact of craft beer as it moves through the three-tier system (breweries, wholesalers and retailers), that also factors invall non-beer products such as food and merchandise sold in brewpub restaurants and brewery taprooms.

According to the Brewer’s Association’s 2018 Economic Impact Report, the American crafting Industry generated 559,545 total jobs, with 150,055 jobs directly at breweries. In addition, more than $5 billion in wages and benefits were provided to brewery employees through 2018.
